Data Deletion

You can ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you, including any WhatsApp Business connection or message data we hold on your behalf. This page explains how.
How to request deletion
- Email hello@tunelo.co.za with the subject line Data deletion request.
- Include the email address, business name, and (if applicable) the WhatsApp Business phone number you connected.
- We will confirm receipt within 2 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days, in line with POPIA.
What gets deleted
- Your contact details and any quote or onboarding submissions.
- Your WhatsApp Business Account connection (encrypted access token, WABA ID, phone number ID, business display name).
- WhatsApp message content stored in our database for your account.
- Server and analytics logs that contain your identifiers.
What we may need to retain
South African tax law (SARS) requires us to retain financial and invoice records for at least 5 years. Where retention is legally required, we keep the minimum necessary data and delete the rest.
WhatsApp on Meta’s side
Meta independently retains data sent through the WhatsApp Business Cloud API in line with their own retention policies. Disconnecting the integration via Tunelo removes our access but does not delete copies held by Meta. To request deletion from Meta directly, contact Meta or use the controls in your WhatsApp Business Manager.
Disconnect first (optional)
If you have an active WhatsApp connection, you can disconnect it yourself from your admin dashboard before submitting a deletion request. We will still need the email request above to delete the historical record.
